It is no problem to use it. Knife not only made by steel but also made by stainless steel would have rust sometime. Factors for rust is in case of knife keeps moisture after use, adhesion of dust including acidum or sodium, high humidity in kept place and etc. It could be prevented by fine wash and clean up with dry cloth. Especially, iron system and steel system knife is very easy to rust. Then, we recommend to coat it by cooking oil.
On the other side, how to dispose rusted knife ? In case of rust on top blade, rust would be disappeared by re-sharpening with grind stone. If rust on another area of stainless steel system knife, please scrape it off by cleanser. However, please note that cleanser injured knife sometimes. In case of rust on iron or steel systems knife, please scrape it off by steel scourer or etc. and coat it by cooking oil. Rust would not effect to knife own function. Please use it at ease.
There are several stories about segmentation of Western knife and Japanese knife. There is one segmentation as double-edged knife is Western knife and single-edged knife is Japanese knife. Basically, Western knife has anchored handle and Japanese knife has inserted handle in professional knife series. The difference of food culture between Japan and Western countries made the knife usage difference. For base usage, Western knife cut material by bang down but Japanese knife cut it by pulling apart. Then, Sharpening method between them is also different. It is very fantastic because this is synchronized to sword usage between Viking and Japanese Samurai.

If you find it after purchase, please contact us without use. We will repair or replace it. If jounce is happened in common use, there is some possibility of erosion by moisture. If erosion inside grip is not so deep, we can change to new grip with some charge. Inserted wooden grip knife like Japanese cooking knife is not fixed by glue, nail and etc. If you find jounce, please hit grip end by hammer or floor a few times. It should be done at fixed intervals.
