Company History

It is the "Sharpeness" of cutting tools which we have been pursuing from our establishment with our weapon as technical innovation. We are keeping our own style as pursuing much higher level sharpeness with esteeming traditional, proffesional skill and advanced technology.

For example, we developed our original "DP method" with many test and faults with material manufacture. (DP method is certified to Japanese patent No. 688679) Really superior goods, functionable goods and beautiful goods were born from our passions.

Besides, some of our goods were certified to good design award by Department of Trade and Industry of Japanese Govenment. Now, we have over 1,000 items and our sales amount is not only top level in Niigata prefecture knife manufactures but also within No.5 in Japanese knife manufactures. We will continue to suggest new cooking culture not only for whole domestic market but also for whole world market by developing superior goods which will be pleased by all people.

Date Matter
May 1953 Establishment of Fujitora Farm Equipment.
Started to make machine parts and blade for farm equipment.
Apr. 1955 Started to make cooking knives.
Mar. 1964 Establishment of Fujitora Industry Co.,Ltd.
Capital fund is Japanese 2 million Yen.
Oct. 1965 Capital expansion to Japanese 3 million Yen.
Apr. 1968 New construction of Yoshida Factory.
Manufacture department relocated to new factory.
Oct. 1969 Capital expansion to Japanese 6 million Yen.
Jun. 1970 First year for awarded superior goods by recommendation of Niigata prefecture. After this year, our goods were awarded it continuously.
Dec. 1971 Acquisition of 1,500m2 land for Yoshida Factory.
Nov. 1972 New construction of Yoshida 2nd Factory.
Feb. 1973 Capital expansion to Japanese 11 million Yen.
Jul. 1978 New construction of Yoshida 3rd Factory.
Sep. 1980 Our goods were awarded for good design prize by MITI.

Sep. 1981 Our goods were awarded for good design prize again.
Oct. 1985 Business headquarters relocated in Yoshida Factory.
Oct. 1988 New construction of Yoshida 4th Factory.
Jul. 1992 Sales department relocated in present Head office. Business headquarters also relocated to Head office.
Jun. 1993 New construction of exclusive hardening equipment in Yoshida Factory.
Jun. 1994 Enlargement of sanding equipment in Yoshida Factory.
Mar. 1995 Release of collaborated knives with Germany Dick GmbH.
Jun. 1995 Release of nozzle for agricultural inspersion machine. Advance for agriculture business.
Mar. 1996 Enlargement of storage in Head office.
Oct. 1996 Tojiro knife series with collets was awarded good design prize and long life design prize by MITI.
Apr. 1998 New construction of Yoshida 3rd Factory.
Mar. 1999 Tojiro-Pro Nickel-Damascus knife series was awarded association incentive prize in products design contest of Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture.
Mar. 2000 Tojiro-Pro Yanagi Sashimi knife series was awarded Kanto MITI chief prize in products design contest of Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture.
Sep. 2000 By reorganization, Mr. Torao Fujita as previous president acceded to chairman and Mr. Susumu Fujita as previous managing director acceded to new president.
Oct. 2000 Tojiro-Pro SD Sweden steel Japanese knife series was awarded good design prize of 2000 by MITI.
Sep. 2001 Opened Internet Shop as "Fujitora Web Shop".
Nov. 2001 Sponsored 2 contests of France Food Culture Center.
Jan. 2002 Jointed to the association of French restaurant servicemen by corporation supporting member.
mar. 2003 Certified ISO 9001 of 2000.
Feb. 2004 First exhibition at ambiente in Frankfurt Messe.
Mar. 2004 Certified ISO 14001
Feb. 2005 Death of Mr. Torao Fujita as chairman (72 years old)
Jan. 2006 Tojiro Flash knife series was awarded association incentive prize in products design contest of Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture.
Sep. 2006 Acquisition of 1,500m2 land for Yoshida Factory.
Jan. 2008 Tojiro Wa-urushi knife series was awarded Kanto MITI chief prize, Tojiro Shippu knife series was awarded association incentive prize in products design contest of Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture.
Nov. 2008 New construction of "Tojiro knife atelier" at Yoshida south factory.
